“He whispered, ‘My child, come home.’ And she peacefully answered the call.”
Sadie Beatrice Stewart, 97, of Franklin, Ky, transitioned from this life on Monday, August 4, 2025, in the comforting presence of God. Born on November 15, 1927, in Macon County, TN (Gravely Hill), to the late Hubert Ray and Adda Jane Valentine. Sadie lived a life filled with unwavering faith and strength.
Sadie had a deep love for gardening and took great pride in her beautiful flowers that brought joy to all who passed by. She was an active member of the quilting club and homemakers club, where she shared her talents and built lasting friendships. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family. Sadie was also known for her unwavering dedication to her church, where her presence and service touched many hearts. As the last matriarch of the Ray family, her memory will be forever cherished and the beautiful memories she created and the strength she carried with grace.
Sadie and the late James Dero Stewart relocated to Simpson County in the early 1950’s. She was employed at LenkManufacturing Company and later became a home health care provider. She was a faithful servant at Loving Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, serving on the Missionary and Usher Boards, and church choir.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Dero Stewart; three precious children: Mary Helen Martin, Barbara June Goodnight, William Nelson Stewart; Step-Mother Bertha Ray and Grandchild Phillip Michael Nelson Stewart. Though her heart carried the pain of those unimaginable losses, she continued to pour love into her family and community with grace and resilience.
Sadie was a pillar of strength and the heart of her family and a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her home was a refuge, her words full of wisdom, and her presence a source of peace to all who knew her.
She leaves behind three sons; Jimmy Stewart, Larry (Regina) Stewart, Wendell (Kelley) Stewart, four daughters; Shirley (Charles) Spencer, Cooky Austin, Carmalita (Emanuel) Haygood and Barnita Stewart, twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren.
